Baseball stuff for 2014 Season

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year Holliday’s! Its always a crazy time of year but I hop everyone got a chance to spend some quality time with your families. I know that I did.
Below is a TON of info regarding fundraisers and extras so bare with me. I’ll will set a date for a booster club meeting sometime this week. It will probably be the 13th or 15th of this month.

This is going to seem like A LOT but we have an opportunity to really knock it out of the park and raise more money than we have in the past. With the expense of a new John Deere Gator ($6,500) coming up we really need to capitalize on some opportunities.

1. Soddy Daisy Kids Club Raffle…I sent 5 tickets home before Christmas. These tickets are $25 a piece and the winner of the raffle gets $2,500. We are going to sell 5 each now and 5 each the 1st of March. This would be 300 total. This is a fundraiser completely ran by the Kids club we are just helping them out. By doing so and the fundraiser goes as planned (1000 tickets sold) they will pay for the first $10,000 of a new clubhouse. It is a tremendous opportunity for us to help them and vice versa. The money for the 1st 5 is due this Thursday.

2. Discount cards…I know everyone loves cards! But this card has brought in over $8,000 for us over the last 2 years so its really to hard to pass up. We will begin this fundraiser this Friday and it will run for 2 weeks.

3. Applebees breakfast…Feb. 8th…More info will be given out within the next few weeks. Such as times and ticket info. This is another yearly fundraiser thats easy and we normally make $12-1,500

4. Last one…March 7th and 8th…”Leadoff Weekend’ Friday March 7th Leadoff Banquet. Which is our annual Chili Supper and Silent Auction and on Saturday will be our golf tournament. Gonna be a crazy weekend but with a couple months of planning we can do it. With good weather we can easily make $6,000+

I know that its a lot but great opportunities and after golf tourney we are playing and won’t have to do anything but work gate for Trojan Classic

Hats have already been paid for and handed out.

Cleats and Turfs…Boys are getting both cleats and turfs for $90…Check for these need to be made out New Balance of Chattanooga and must be turned in (in a sealed envelope) by Jan. 24th

Shorts and t-shirts…Checks for shirts and shorts will need to be made to Soddy Daisy Baseball Boosters…The cost for that is $50 and includes Shorts, tshirt and long sleeve t-shirt

Sweats and Sweat pants will need to be ordered off the Athletic Shop’s website. You will find our team store at The sweats are the only team gear stuff on the site that is listed as mandatory. The other stuff is optional and anyone can order off the site (aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.) You can order at any time but needs to be before Jan.22 to ensure its delivered before the 10th of Feb.

I think thats everything. Thank you so much in advance for all the hard work and support you guys always offer throughout the course of the year. It’ll be over before we know it!

Thanks Again,

Also I have most everyones Polo’s or T shirts from the donation letters. Only a few not ready because they came in after the order was placed. I will get them to your player this week.

The annual kick-off banquet is March 8th @ 6:00pm. Tickets will be handed out next week. (Players are free) I know this is new to all of the freshmen so here is a little explanation of what goes on.

We will have a dinner and silent auction at the school. The dinner is usually chili that each baseball parent brings. However, we have had some requests for something new. If you know of anyone that might donate BBQ or give us a great deal we could consider that an option. The silent auction items are anything that we can get donated. Melanie White works on this fundraiser year around and has several great items.(Smokey Mountain Packages, Disney Hopper Passes, etc) Nothing you can get donated is too small or too large. When we have collected them we get together and make packages with these items. In addition to the donated packages each class will have a package to create for people to bid on. These packages can be summer fun gifts, golf package, clothing, movie night, spa day, etc.

Not only is this one of our largest fundraisers it is the night that Coach Hensley will introduce the players for the upcoming 2013 Season. Please invite family, friends, and anyone that might like to bid on auction items. Also we will introduce the 2013 Diamond Girls. These girls help at gates, concession stand, tournaments, goody bags for players and much much more.

We need cellophane, tissue paper, baskets and any items that you can get donated ASAP. If you have time to help with this banquet please give me a call. We will need help from everyone. Also, we have a form on the SDHS Trojan website to print off for you to use to take to company’s that are donating. Melanie has several places that are donating but she needs people to pick these items up for her and she has not been able to go to any of the restaurants that usually donate like chilis, applebees, etc.
Please sent me a response if you can do any of these things.

Thank you,

Melanie White

2012 Pre-Season News

Extras lists have all been turned in and shirts, hoodies, etc. have been ordered. Everyone needs to start getting their money in as soon as possible. Players have been told their amount but if anyone needs to know or has any questions let me know.
We have begun our newest fundraiser. It is a card sale. I know everyone (myself included) is not too enthusiastic on these cards but this is different than past offers. Just for buying the card you get a free haircut, oil change, tire balance and rotation, and 5 day “all access” pass at Sun Tan City. All of that among others is completely free and thats not including other deals. If we really push this it should sell itself.
Pre-season practice schedule will be Mon. – Fri. Mondays and Wednesdays will prob not end until around 5:45 or 6:00 due to sharing the building with softball. But Tues, Thurs, and Fri we should be done around 5:30. No promises on exact finish but that’s a good estimation. Practice starts at 2:45
We will be having a mandatory parent/booster meeting sometime within the next week or so. I will get info out on that asap.

Pancake Breakfast with Santa
Thank you to everyone who attended the booster meeting last Thursday. We talked about doing a pancake breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 3rd and Jared has gotten permission for us to do it on that date at the high school. We are also going to give out tickets for door prizes to anyone who brings in a canned good for the Chattanooga Food Bank. I think this has the potential to be a fairly big fundraiser for us, providing we get several people to participate. We are going to need people to head up the following:

Advertising: Someone needs to contact the paper about getting it in the Wednesday insert and the weekend edition on Friday the 2nd. We also need someone to take flyers to the schools and maybe even set up a table outside Walmart to hand out flyers.

Decorations: Kristyn is willing to take care of the decorating but she will need 3 or 4 people to help her. We will also need someone to work the door the morning of to take up money.

Cooking: We will need several people with electric griddles to make the pancakes Saturday morning.

Clean up: We will need several people to stay after and help clean up.

Booth rental: We are going to try to get some vendors to pay a fee to set up a table to sell crafts or whatever. We need a contact person for this. We will charge them $40.00 for a table if they donate one of their items for a door prize or $50.00 if they don’t donate one.

Donations: The more we can get donated (pancake mix, syrup, bacon, plates, drinks, etc.) the more money we can make.

Photography: Dawn Thornton is going to do the photography but she will need people to assist her.

Once again, this will only be successful if we get near 100 percent participation. If we don’t get enough people willing to help out we will just have to scrap it and go back to selling cookie dough, candles, and coupon books. If you are willing to help please respond back to me asap so we can get the ball rolling. I will send out updates throughout the day as we fill positions. Also, if we’ve overlooked something or anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to let me know.

This year we had a Chili Dinner and a Silent Auction that raised over $3000 for the Baseball Team. Lori Humphreys was the event coordinator. Head Coach Hensley introduced the Asst. Coaches and the Players. The Special Guest Speaker was Executive Officer Kevin Beavers ( former SD Baseball Alum ) & ( West Point Grad ) currently stationed in Tacoma, Washington serving  at the U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM). Kevin attended the dinner with Soddy Daisy’s own Miss Tennesse, Stefanie Wittler. Kevin talked for about 30 mins and his message talked about the 5 points to success in life which could apply to sports also. He did an outstanding job.
